What is vegetovascular dystonia?

Vegetovascular dystonia (synonyms cardiopsychoneurosis, autonomic dysfunction, VVD) – it is disease connected with work disturbance in vegetovascular system, that characterized by disorders of all body systems, and a variety of symptoms of exposure. Vegetative (synonym: autonomous) nervous system provide stability internal indicators of organism (blood pressure, body temperature, hormone balance) and adequate reaction to the environment (climate change, temperature, barometric pressure drops). It consists from two main parts, work of which disturbed during this disease.

The sympathetic nervous system — is responsible for controlling the internal environment, and also maintaining the organism in an appropriate state to perform the physical and mental stress.

The parasympathetic nervous system — is provides relaxation and rejuvenation organism, working at night.

Normally this two system working interconnected: the sympathetic nervous system prevail in a daytime, the parasympathetic nervous system works at night.

Similar negative result there is in osteochondrosis of the cervical and/or thoracic parts, as a result there is narrowing of the intervertebral foramen.

Symptoms of vegetovascular dystonia

Neurocirculatory dystonia frequently appears in woman between the ages 18-19 years old and progresses exacerbating symptoms in the age from 30-35 to 45-55 years old. Disease also can develop in any age; it is connected to individual features of organism.

People who have VVD frequently are weak, anxious, diffident, restless, sad, can be very importunate.

First symptoms are slight dizziness (minor incoordination) and wavelike fit of energy. But then  it develop in an arithmetic progression: chest pain, irritability, feeling chills, blackout, hands sweat and numb, as if sends shivers down the fingers and toes, fear, faintness, nausea, obsessive fear of death, with a sharp rise of the head, there are «lice» before eyes. Naturally it is only half of all symptoms that can patients tell about.

Frequently the hallmark of this disease is a mismatch of the results of analyzes with real feeling of the patient. If it heartache then ECG, ultrasound and other researches show that everything is normal, such pain isn’t called heartache. For example, it feels like “something wrong” in your head, but CT and MRI don’t show pathology.

Treatment of VVD (neurocirculatory dystonia)

Treatment of patients with the diagnosis VVD becomes harder and longer. It is consist of integrated approach to disease. As previously described the main factor that leads to emergence of symptoms is irritation, at squeeze of nerve root, as a result of different factors.
